Picture O' the Week #2

Seriously, this one might be the best yet. Thank GOD my Mom has a scanner and has been scanning some of our old photos over the years (shout out!). My brother and I used to have Underoos (don't judge, if you're in our age-range, you know you did too). We thought we were pretty stylin' in our Wonder Woman (although I apparently called mine "Under Woman") and Superman Underoos, we used to run around the house acting out the characters. This picture really doesn't need a lot of explanation, really, it's just so priceless. And even better that Rob bought me some Wonder Woman adult underoos as a stocking stuffer for Christmas last year...and needless to say I've also run around the house in those as well. You only get a mental image of that one, though...no pictures for you!

Dude, how cute are we? And how hideous is that orange carpet?

Fair Animals Galore

Another one of my favorite things about the fair is all the adorable farm animals. I think they deserve their own post, for sure. I'll spare you tons of photos so I'm just including a really funny video of Dave and I making turkey noises at the "Turkey Trot" and then I'll include the rest of the pics in a slideshow.

Enjoy...

The Fair is the Bomb

Seriously, I freakin' love going to the fair every year. It's been our tradition for the last 6 or 7 years to go to the fair with our 6 good friends. We have such a blast gorging ourselves with fried fantastic food, going on "vomit rides", buying tons of stuff we don't need in the Halls of Crap and checking out all the animals. I seriously love this tradition, its such a perfect summertime event with our buddies. I give Rob a lot of credit this year, we were there for about 11 hours in the hot sun and he hobbled along like a trooper (El Tigre style) with his injured knee.

Of course it's pretty much an official rule that you have to eat some artery-clogging food at the fair, and we definitely did that. Here's the girls chowing on some frozen bananas:

Here's us racing on the slides - Marley totally kicked our butts although Sean won the first go-around. Notice how I'm cheating by trying to slow Dave down. Hysterical.

So, in the Halls of Crap this year were these hysterical "exercise" machines that you're supposed to stand on, essentially get Shaken Baby Syndrome and then voila: you'll be magically skinny. Marley and I tried it out and it was so freakin' funny. I wasn't really aware that I was screaming like a Banshee the whole time, so excuse the glass-breaking high pitch that follows:
David and Mary came a little later, so I don't have any pics of them except at the Demolition Derby (which, incidentally, might just be my very favorite thing at the fair - I freakin' love it!). David took some pics, though, so I'll be sure to post those when I get them.
Here's some more pics in a slideshow...please to enjoy:

Our friends' kids...

Bear with me, I know we don't have kids (except for the White Furry Wonder) so that means we get to be proud Auntie and Uncle and post about our friend's adorable children if we wanna. Here's a smattering of cute kids over the last few days:
Leigh with Janie and Ryan's son, Neal. at Ryan's graduation pool party last weekend...check the cute message onesie. We're so proud of Ryan - graduating with a structural engineering degree which basically means he's (1) one smart cookie and (2) gonna build cool stuff.

Dinner at Karen and Alex's Friday night ended with bath time for Bennett. Seriously, how cute is this tushie?

Alex and Karen do this cute little bath time routine where they sing "Little Bar of Soap" to Ben when they bathe him. Hysterical, please do enjoy.

And then we were at the fair yesterday (stay tuned for WAY more of those stories and pictures) and Sean and Paige's little guy Carter has started to walk! Please enjoy his mad skillz walking between mom and Grandma Beth (not me, there's actually someone else in this world named Beth, can you believe it?)

And introducing...the Picture O' the Week!

Since I only came into the blogging world recently, I figured it is kinda a bummer I haven't been able to share old photos with you all. After all, we have some pretty hysterical and amazing (but who's biased?) photos over the years. So, I've decided that I'm going to pick an old photo every week to showcase. The Picture O the Week (or POW) will commence with one from my cell phone I recently came across again.

Rob was at a "work" conference in Orlando in 2006 with colleagues from Cambridge Mass and I kept getting these random cell phone pics. Imagine my surprise when I got this picture from an unknown number (turns out our friend Tim sent it). This apparently was taken at Universal Studios, but I think it's pretty funny out of context not knowing Rob was there. I think it speaks for itself...please to enjoy.

More Babies Comin' On the Scene

I went to my friend Adrian's baby shower with my old work friends (well, they're not old, I just mean they are my friends from Scripps, ha!). It was so great to see those girls and get to see Adrian's growing belly. Her little girl Taylor is due on the scene in over a month and all of her "Auntie's" can't wait to meet her.

All the girls: Julie, Adrian, Polly, Lisa, Moi and Jennifer

Jennifer losing at "guess how big Adrian's belly is"

Julie brought baby Kelsey and it was so fun to see how much she's grown in 3 weeks! Plus look how rockin' amazing Julie looks already, rowr! The girls (and two guesses who was hogging Kelsey):

Baby Kelsey laying on her Auntie Adrian and sitting on her friend-to-be, Taylor

Oh, a funny added bonus to the day: I won one of the baby shower games and my prize was a packet of condoms! Score! hahahaha

Dude, Guess Who's Naked?

Ha! Made you look! It's Galileo, you big perv, what did you expect? He got a MAJOR summer hair cut. Major as in: we went to pick him up and really weren't even sure that he was our dog. Seriously, the poor kid has no hair left. He looks like a used Q-tip. And he's acting all weird and sheepish although now I'm sure he's thanking us because it's literally 96 degrees at our house right now.

I'm naked, Mom!

Look at that look of disappointment and disgust. How can we even cope?

(and hey, I know this wasn't the most exciting blog post in the world but oh well). I promise to drum something fascinating up one of these days.

Marky Mark and the Drugged Bunch

So, I know this was "so last month" but I forgot to post it - don't hate. When I was on the flight to Boston to meet up with Rob, I SWEAR Mark Wahlberg was on my same flight. THE Mark Wahlberg of the fantastically hot-in-his-undies fame. I'm 98.9 percent sure it was him. And the reason I'm not 100% sure is, well, I might have taken an Ambien about 30 minutes prior to seeing him.

It was a red eye flight that left LA at 10:30 at night and I knew I'd be a waste of space if I tried to sleep on my own. So, I took an Ambien as they announced boarding so I'd be good and sleepy by the time I got in my seat. WRONG! Like a dumb-dumb, I probably took it too far in advance and if I was any decent EDUCATED traveler, I would have known that sometimes things don't go smoothly or even close to on-time when it comes to the airlines. Let's just say boarding took over 45 minutes and I was in the last group to board. I was so exhausted and so petrified I'd pass out drooling and miss my flight that I even started chatting up the lady next to me and jokingly (or not) told her to get me to seat 10A if I passed out mid-sentence standing straight up. As a side note, can you picture that insanity? "Get me a wheelchair! We've got to get this motionless corpse of a person to seat 10A!!" Needless to say, I barely even remember putting my seatbelt on and the next thing I knew the annoying chatty cathy next to me was waking me up as we were landing in Boston.

So, the Marky Mark thing was under some *ahem* inebriated circumstances, but I swear it's him. Decide for yourselves. It's not that close of a picture because I wanted to be all subtle and not one of "THOSE PEOPLE"...although let's just say I wasn't the only one who was looking at him and noticing. Plus he was with a stacked hottie of a chic so I'm assuming she either is into guys that look like MM or is with the real deal.

Please to enjoy...

The U.S. Open

So, when Rob's Dad, Brother and Sister in law to be (whew, that's exhausting to say) were here, we treated everybody to the US Open. As most of you probably know, the Open was here in San Diego this year (first time EVER!) at Torrey Pines Golf Course, so it was a once-in-a-lifetime event. Rob and Jim went for a practice round Friday and then we all went together for Sunday, which was supposed to be the final day (but as you know, Tiger won it in a sudden death round on Monday while all gimped out ALA Rob Warren, impressive!). Unfortunately they didn't allow cameras at the event, so here's a picture of us in the Qualcomm parking lot with our tickets...you'll just have to imagine us at the actual thing. If I was a major computer whiz, I'd somehow superimpose Tiger's picture with ours, but that ain't happening.

We had so much fun at the Open! We followed a friend of Steve's, Todd Hamilton, for a couple of holes in the early morning then planted ourselves in the grandstands at hole 5 and watched all the rest of the players come through. Once Tiger was finished, I thought (stupidly) we could make it to another hole to do the same thing but it was absolute chaos at that point. We watched a few more holes over people's shoulders in really thick crowds and eventually left about an hour before it was over. It was a really cool to see all these icons live and in person, I'm so glad we had this opportunity.

In addition to seeing golf live, there was also lots of being planted on the couch watching. Well, I should clarify, the guys were planted to the couch and Pam and I went for many walks and to the pool. ha! So, this was pretty much the view of the guys for 3 days straight. Notice how Galileo has to participate as well, who knew he was such a golf fan?

The Warrens descend on Sandy Eggo

Rob's Dad Jim came out from Colorado Springs last week for about a week and Rob's brother Steve and sister-in-law to be Pam (shout out! woot woot!) joined him a few days into his visit. We had an awesome time, hung out a lot and the whole weekend definitely had a sports theme. Here, Rob and Jim took in a 9-0 Padres win over the Dodgers!

We also took Jim around Encinitas where his grandparents used to live and hit the beach.

We had a lot of fun and did a ton of stuff. Jim even tried his very first sushi, quite an experience! Here's a slideshow of some more pics from the visit for those so inclined. Enjoy.

Forget El Tigre, Rob is the TRUE champion

Congrats to Rob and his Biogen-Idec softball team who won their league championship last night! I'm so proud especially because Rob was all gimped out after making a major slide last week. Rob has been limping ever since with a bum knee, I personally think he had sympathy pain for Tiger Woods. They won $400 and a rockin' huge trophy - congrats guys!!!

Dave's "Agenda"

Our friend Dave does community theater and we like to go support him in all things "jazz hands"- we went to his latest play "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" today and it was great. We had a good time but were especially humored by this little tidbit brought to you by Sean's Internet skills (shout out!) when he discovered a rather disgruntled theater goer's negative review. I bring you the following gem:
The purpose of my comment is to alert prospective ticket buyers to some aspects of the play of which they may not be aware. (I specifically looked for this information before attending so I could make an informed choice and found it unavailable.) First of all, there is some profanity including cursing and one scene in which cast members appear in their underwear. Most problematic for me though is the notion throughout the play that sex without marriage is the norm and somehow a funny subject. I recognize this sort of thing goes on in the world and is a part of some people's lives but frankly when I hear the word "condom" in a play that's supposed to be a musical-comedy the laughter stops, the yawning begins and the word "agenda" comes to mind. If this is the sort of thing that turns your crank don't let me stop you. The performers all did a fine job and there were some funny scenes. Just know what you're in for.

I'll have you all know (lest you think we were at a major porno) that the play is NOT about sex outside of marriage or flagrant use of condoms or even underwear (egads! people wear underwear!) but was a really funny, sweet play about love and relationships. Too funny what people think, and needless to say, we're all quite curious what our friend's "agenda" is...if you figure it out, let us know.

Had a fun dinner afterwards and thought I'd share with you two funny pics:

Sean's hysterical shirt (and yes, he DOES make good babies...or at least one so far)
And our friend's baby Carter is into putting his hands into the air and yelling "whoa!" so of course we all like to do that too...

Which is funny because my niece Abby used to do the exact same thing (but her thing was yelling "yay!" and all of us crazy adults would stand around shouting "yay" with our arms in the air like idiots just because it was so contagious and entertaining. She was so little here, here's a flash from the past in 2004 of both of us yelling yay. Wow, I miss that girl. Who wants to finance a visit for us to go see her in Alaska? :) Come on, you know you want to.

And introducing, Kelsey Theresa Lason!

After 9 long months of waiting, our friends Matt and Julie just had a precious baby girl early in the morning on Friday! We visited them in the hospital to meet her for the first time and holy cow is she adorable! We golf with Matt and Julie a lot and big props to Julie for golfing right up until the end - we all think the belly even helped improve her game, the stinker. We've decided we'll put a little baby seat in the back of the golf cart and just keep going...

Here's a little video of us at the hospital with them - she is so amazingly cute and was trying her hardest to be alert and check out the world! I'm sure she recognized my voice from 9 months of gossiping with her mother...heh heh...

Proud Uncle Robby - obviously Kelsey will never have to worry about being loved, she has plenty of "aunts and uncles" who will adore her forever.

And there's plenty more where that came from, here's the Snapfish link to more pics if you want: Congratulations, Matt and Julie!

Wedding tent, I mean, dress

So, it's confession time. As some of you may already know, I like to put on my wedding dress every once in a while and run around the house. Hey, don't judge, you also haven't lived until you've vaccumed the house in a tiara.

I strongly reject the notion of preserving your dress far away in an untouchable museum-like box because who the heck decided you should only be a princess for one day out of your whole life? Bah.

So, Rob and I were in the spare bedroom doing some touch up painting last weekend (woot woot! we really do live it up) and I "stumbled across" my dress again and of course we all know what happened next.

The thing is, I hadn't tried it on for a couple of years and the thing is freakin' huge on me now! Check me out in the mirror holding it tight, haha! It literally was falling off, which of course is a great thing but also dashes all hopes of my evil future plan: having a girls only party where the attire is MANDATORY to wear your old wedding dress. How awesome will that be? Imagine being out downtown and seeing 30 brides come running across the street. My friend suggested we still have the party but use some ugly office-type black binder clips or something to keep it on, ha! Not that the theme of the party will be classy or anything anyway, so that might fit right in. Stay tuned for that some day!

Look at Galileo checking his crazy Mama out...

Book Club goes co-ed

Soooo...it's all about not drinking the water at book club apparently because three members of our group just had babies within the last 3 months! Jake, Neal and Bennett are adorable new members (and the only guys allowed...that might have to change until they're older when they switch over to Man and Meat Club (no joke, that's what our dudes call it when they get together when we're all at book club). Here's some pics from tonight (unfortunately missing Jake and Susan and Betty and Marley who was a ROCKSTAR and just finished her first marathon!):

Here's all of us minus a few:

Janie, Neal and Galileo - she's got her hands full!

Mary, Bennett and Karen - who ventured out just 2 weeks after her c-section! She's amazing...

And of course these book club pics made me reminisce about book clubs in the past and of course made me go and dig out pictures of the dioramas we made one time. We were all remembering how as kids we'd make dioramas for book reports in elementary school so we decided we should all make dioramas for the next book we read (which was decided BEFORE the book we chose, which just so happened to be all about strippers...hahahaha!) We were dying when we all showed up with dioramas full of stripper poles (that certainly wasn't a project we had ever worked on as kids! I remember more like teepees made of brown paper bags and clouds made from cotton balls, but never really any stripper poles, per se. Enjoy!

Can you tell there's often wine at book club?

The funniest end to this story is we threw our dioramas away in our friend Janie's alleyway dumpster and she told us later that some guy was diggin through the dumpster and she saw him pull our "works of art out" and take them with him! What someone would need with stripper dioramas makes the mind reel, but I'd like to think they made him millions in some foo-foo art gallery.
