POW - the "drunkards from the past" edition

Happy New Year's everybody! I thought I'd post some pretty funny pics of NYE's from the past (and more than a few pounds ago, yikes!). I think this was from 2001 when Rob and I and Leigh and Kevin headed to LA for the night. We had such a blast (as evidenced by these pictures) - these make me smile.

Hope everybody has an awesome holiday tonight and a fabulous 2010!!!!

Merry Christmas (a little late, but whatever, don't be a grinch)

Merry (late) Christmas everybody! The fact that I'm a week late on this post shows we've had a super nice holiday - was the perfect blend of chill time and lots of activity. I hope all of you had a marvelous Christmas as well.

Christmas Eve was really neat - my Aunt Joanne and Uncle Olie and two cousins, Val and Josh, came out from Colorado for Christmas Eve dinner. Well, they didn't exactly come all the way just for Xmas Eve dinner at the Warrens - I wouldn't try to claim our cooking skills are THAT legendary. :) Olie and Val were heading down to Mexico to help build houses with their church so the family spent some San Diego time before making the trek. It was great to see them and catch up, good times.

Christmas Day was HEAVEN! We had thrown around all sorts of different options but ended up just spending the day together in our jammies, we had such a nice day. You know it's a quality 5 star day when you have to change OUT of your jammies just to walk the dog in the afternoon (and promptly change right back into them of course). We talked to all our family by phone and really reflected how blessed we are to have such love in our lives. We are buying each other bikes so we kept the gifts to a minimum but we both still got some wonderful gifts from others: gift cards, money towards the bikes, a beautiful necklace (mine, not Rob's, although he did get a watch!), photos, chili and salsa gift pack and lots more. We didn't take many pics, but here's a few from our loot taken with our cell phones, so excuse the low quality (of photography, not low quality models, of course):
Rob scored with a great Broncos hat and pilsner glass, he's super stoked and has already broken both in. I love his Festivus shirt he was wearing too.

I got what has turned out to be one of my favorite possessions ever, I have dubbed him "Barry the Bear" - he's this amazing heavy, cozy fake fur blanket and he's just about the best thing ever to read under. See the jealous look on Galileo's face, he keeps trying to claim Barry for his own but he's not gonna win that fight, no siree.

And the funniest gift by far was actually a score from a White Elephant gift exchange with my book club girlfriends - Janie was so sweet to pass it over my way for Rob and he loves it. It's a dip bowl in the shape of a football...and when you open it, well...just wait for it and enjoy: The funniest thing is you're under a time-crunch to get your chip in and out...I guess it prevents double dippage!

Video O' The Week - the "I love you" edition

Our friend's son Bennett's vocabulary is increasing every day and it's absolutely darling how he pronounces stuff. His latest trick is to say "I love you" and I was lucky enough to be the recipient at a party last weekend. It's kind of dark lighting but you get the drift, he even says it twice...too cute!!

It makes me melt into a puddle on the ground when he says it...I'm willing to give that kid just about anything. You want my car? No problem.

Tacky Tackiness!

I have been completely negligent of my blog and for that, my apologies. We got home from Colorado and I got a nasty bug, took me quite a while to bounce back from it. And, of course, with all the holiday craziness...real life has superseded computer-life. Bizarro, I know.

Anyhoo, last weekend our friends Karen and Alex hosted one of the best parties EVER - their 2nd annual Tacky Holiday party. They completely raised the bar by hiring a DJ, it turned what is always a good time at their house into a dance party USA!

People also completely showed up in style, WAY outdoing themselves with costumes even better than last year. Rob and I opted for "naughty tacky": Rob was Santa Pimp and I was his Ho Ho Ho! (Mom and Dad, I know you must be so proud of your little girl, ha!).Rob stayed in character all night...I think my favorite part of his costume was his candy cane cane...he really worked that thing!
My costume on the other hand, was purchased for super cheap from EBay - I thought I had scored on the "one size fits all" Santa's Helper costume until the dang thing arrived in the mail. I should have noticed the small print that it was made in China - clearly that thing was "one size fits all Chinese women" because it was super tiny!!! I had full intentions of wearing my cape all night long to cover up, but when it got too hot with all the boogying, I just threw caution to the wind and bared all. But hey, it worked! Rob won the best (or worst, I guess, depending on your point of view) costume prize....a Snuggie! If that doesn't class up the outfit, I don't know what does. And by the way, why does Jason have my cape on here?

Here's some of us dancing in the kitchen, just warming up our moves, clearly:

And eventually, we all moved it into the living room AKA dance party central.

SUCH a great night! Love these pics:

The End:

Day 5 - family time, the perfect way to wind down!

Our last day in Colorado, we spent some great time with Dad and Patti. So fun to just hang around and chat - we love you guys!Oh, and we love Ray just as much, of course. Seriously, that is one cool cat. If it wouldn't make Rob stop breathing, I'd be tempted to take him home with us. :)

Day 4 - college friends galore (hey, that rhymed!)

We are so fortunate to still be in good contact with our college buddies, and have even made some more CSU friends along the way! We crammed them all into a lunch on Sunday - it was absolute insanity with the number of all of us plus kids, but it was heaven to see everybody, as always.

The last time we got together was just over a year ago, when 3 of the girls were newly pregnant and didn't even know it! Here are their sweet girls now:

Cutie Eva and proud parents Brandy and Sam - due to be married next year! Can't wait for their wedding.
Sweet Hallie - an absolute miracle of Carly and Matt's and big brother Adam (showcased here by an adoring and freakishly tall Aunt Jen and Uncle Alex before she was promptly stolen by less-tall Aunt Beth and Uncle Rob)And darling Ashlyn - Chris and Carolyn's little girl and Alyssa's little sister:
Here Alyssa shows the babies what's up:

I swear, our friends make some adorable children...they're pretty fun to love on plus I think there's a total bonus of being the out of town Uncle and Aunt who live in a cool place - it's easy to lure them into our lair of Sea World, Legoland, the beach and Disneyland. :) The Hoeltings are coming to visit next spring, but of course we're always hopeful to get other visitors as well (*shameless San Diego plus*, can you blame a girl for trying?)Love that Morgan - she's getting so big too!

McKenzie's been out to visit us, she was small enough to be held on Rob's one arm like a football and she's getting so big now! Exciting news, we just found out the Rumlers are expecting again! Apparently if you're wanting to conceive, all you have to do is have the Warrens out to visit...that seems to be the lucky charm every time (I can't help but think we're somehow responsible for these babies...but then again, I may not have been paying attention in health class).
Sally and Brian were sweet enough to come out on Brian's birthday and they earned some well-deserved adult time away from the house:
Here's the gang minus the Purnell's who just had their baby Kallie! We love all you guys - you're the greatest.

Day 3 of Thanksgiving in Colorado

Saturday we spent in the Springs with Rob's Mom - always a good time hanging with Ruth. We didn't take a ton of pics, just some as we were leaving Sunday:

But as an added bonus, I bought a super warm fuzzy hat - can't wait to use it in my convertible with the top down!

Yes, I'm a dork. Is this really a news flash to you?

Day 2 of Thanksgiving in Colorado

Day 2 was all about good friends - we spent the day with Nicole, Chad, and their new baby Karaline. I couldn't wait to meet her, I've been waiting a whole 3 1/2 months and that's WAY too long to meet my new little buddy!!!
She's so precious and is at such a fun age - sitting up, smiling, and she even rolled over! Here's Karaline showing me her mad skills.
It's so much fun to watch Nicole and Chad become parents - they're falling into their new roles seamlessly and I'm so impressed with the 2 of them. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't choked up a few times watching my sweet Nicole as a Mom - she's the best, utterly devoted to that little girl.
The time spent was way too short, as always, but I do know we'll be in her life forever. Here's a video of me and Karaline dancing, she's got great moves:

And of course we couldn't ignore our god-dogs....love Rascal and Rudy

That night we spent with Jeff, Judi, Owen and Willett - we just adore those 4 and anytime spent with them is such precious time. Willett is such a happy, chill little dude - content to sit and watch the world go by around him.

Owen is such a blast - he's crazy smart and so very observant. He's such a great little reader too, and so much fun to play with.We also took a walk down to their playground again...
...but mostly we just did some quality hanging out, what we do best.We love our good friends, if you can't tell, and had some great chats with everybody, as always. It always feels like too short of time with all of these guys, but hopefully we'll get to see them again soon enough...or we'll just have to resort to kidnapping.
