Attack of the flora...

The Warren's plants have taken over! It's so exciting to see everything finally growing in and coming along. I'd say the most fun to watch are those adorable little hummingbirds that buzz and dive bomb each other in the backyard. We truly can sit out there for hours and watch them go. We have nicknames for all of them, there's Harry the Redneck, Beyonce with the bright purple/pinks and "Other Guy" who's got the most blah of colors but is really the sweetest. Here's Other Guy in all his glory. Our little orange tree is kicking butt - look at this little guy in Rob's hand!
The lemon tree is trying hard, but just can't keep up with his cooler and much bigger cousin the orange. Look at those little guys! And my tomatoes are going nutso! I got suckered into this Topsy Turvey planter by the guy at Ace Hardware but it's really working out...these were literally just tiny seedlings 3 weeks ago!

Same with my cucumber plant...
And our fresh basil! Can't wait - we plan to make a pesto this week and also garnish some quinoa...slurp!

Our carpet roses are finally...well....carpeting the front. Way to do your job, roses! And our regular roses are slow on the uptake, but we have a couple fighters.

The hydrangeas outside the front door are going gangbusters...aren't they cool? I tried to plant some before when we lived closer to the ocean and they croaked...so hopefully these will make it!

And now to the inside - we have 2 plants that have continually died, so I'm damn determined to find the right plant for the dark spots. Isn't this plant the coolest? I love it's gorgeous purple and green colors...it's the new plant in our loft, replacing a horribly murdered palm. RIP, Palm, I did my best.
And here's the new peace lilly we planted in the spare bedroom. So, just so you know - only peace is allowed in that room. No fighting! :)

And look at these gorgeous flowers we got for our anniversary! Thanks, Dad and Patti - they're gorgeous!
(ok, I realize that might be the 2nd most boring blog posting you've ever seen, but oh well. I've falling off the blogging bandwagon and have just been phoning it in for a while...don't hate).

Clearly, the Padres need us.

I think we can totally take credit for this. We went to our first Padres game of the season thanks to our generous friend Mo with the corporate hook up...and we won! Like...crazy, wipe your face on home plate kind of won. 14-1, wowza! Now, granted, the Padres have sucked this year...so maybe they needed the Warrenski mojo? Sorry boys, our bad. We'll be at more games next season, I promise.

Enjoy the pirated pic...

Our very first official BBQ!

Despite having a gimpy little furry son, our first BBQ was lovely. Very mellow and low key, but so much fun to have everyone over to our new backyard! Even Galileo was in a great mood - not sure if it was the smell of tri-tip or all his favorite people, but he was the happiest I've seen him since his surgery.

Not too much to say about any of these pics, other than how cute are Zoe and Ruby? Ruby was so cute trying to comfort her BFF Zoe - she looked quite concerned Zoe was so sad.

The guys:

And the girls: (the chaise lounger is super comfy, clearly a big hit) :)I love all the changing players in this one, notice my lazy butt stays in the same place the whole time. Rotate around me, people!

I was too preoccupied chatting (shocker) so unfortunately never got a shot of my hard-working grill master man...but take my word for it, he did us proud.

Puppy report 2

.

So, I'm thrilled to report Galileo got his stitches and staples out today - he's a free man! Well, kinda. He's still going to have to wear the CONE OF SHAME when he's by himself because he's prone to licking anything on him that doesn't have fur..counting this new little chicken leg of his. Isn't it scrawny? His scar goes all the way from the top of his knee there down the front (all the reddish parts you see) - adding to his little "frankenpuppy" fierce look.
He's so adorable, though, he's patiently lets us manipulate his little leg for "physical therapy" twice a day followed by a bone and icing. Hey, we're no crappy physical therapy office here, yo, it's high class treatment all the way! Here he is getting iced:

He got to go on his very first short walk tonight and he seemed to lightly touch his foot down occasionally. Definitely not weight bearing yet but the vet said that'll take months - but overall our Vet was really encouraged by G's progress. Woohoo, star pupil!

Thanks everyone for all your fluffy warm thoughts and prayers - they've worked and we have a happier, hungrier and more active little guy back. Much love! Arf!

Nighttime is the Right Time

Have I mentioned how much we love having our backyard done? We ADORE hanging out back there, have had numerous breakfasts and bloody mary's enjoying the courtyard and tunes, many a night enjoying the BBQ, chaise, and again, tunes. It's just heaven back there, it makes me insanely happy!

Here's some random shots at night....enjoy. And then, come on over and BBQ with us!
