A few weeks ago our friend Mike celebrated his 40th birthday and his wife surprised him with a casino themed party. It was great fun and we had a blast. They had a photographer documenting the night and we took a lot of pics, but Rob and I decided to mix it up and take some hilarious ones so Mike would get a laugh later. What we didn't know is that the photographer was printing them out right after he was shooting them, and then posting them up on a board for all to see....and all I have to say is, for those people who don't know us, we apparently got quite an undeserved reputation. Please to enjoy:
And the piece de la resistance:
Ok, and the funniest? I was totally 100% stone cold sober drinking water.
So later in the night (how we found out the pics ending up on the board) some guy sees me and comes running up to me and goes "wow, you can really rally! I can't believe you're upright!" and I'm like "Um....thanks?" thinking he must really have low standards if he's impressed by a lady standing up by herself...and then I see the photo board. LOL!!! Well, needless to say we made some new friends that night. Except for the chic that said to me "it's especially funny since you're pregnant!". Um, huh? Officially hate her.
Here's some other dignified pics from the night but nothing beats that story, still makes me giggle. Wish that one of Rob photobombing my "pass out" could be our Xmas card. :)

ROW- the Eggplant Lasagna Edition
We've been gluten free in the Warrenski house now for 3 loooong months. Dark days, dark days.
But while we've actually discovered some descent gluten free breads and pastas ( and we've even become"those people who bring their own soy sauce to sushi hahaha!) I haven't found any lasagna noodles that are safe. And that makes me grumpy. So I've been looking for a good substitute recipe that doesn't taste like cardboard and remind us of our current plight. And huzzah!!!!!
Found this recipe on Atkins and it was soooooo amazing. I made a few substitutions to make it a bit healthier: frozen kale instead of spinach, low fat ricotta and mozzarella instead of the real deal and low fat turkey instead of ground beef. Boom shalaga. Soooo creamy good, even my eggplant-hating food critic went back for seconds AND ate it for leftovers the next day. Miraculous!!!

Update on work
So my physical therapist put me through all of my objective tests and I aced them all - I nailed all of the balance, sensory/motor, etc, which is wonderful! I still feel pretty foggy/fatigued easily and do still have dizziness intermittently which is apparently pretty normal with this nerve damage (she explained there's a sensory disconnect like someone with an amputation that can still feel their lost limb). I'm getting better at identifying my triggers to the fog/fatigue so I'm just taking it really easy and going into work one day a week for now. But so far, so good and it feels amazing to be working again. I'm being really gentle with myself and going slowly building up my practice and I'm also doing some supervision for people with their masters degrees working towards licensure and that has also been so fulfilling.
All in all, both things feel really right, and even on my toughest days, I'm pushing through and am celebrating my return to the working world. Am hoping that the fog lifts soon, but in the meantime I'm just celebrating the big victories: driving, working, not being bruised all over and not falling down all the time :), etc.
My office space is gorgeous too! It's in La Jolla in a beautiful office building and it is such an added bonus to be in such a great space. Here are a few pics of my digs:

What I did on my Hawaii vacation...
...by Beth Warren.
Well, there was a lot of sitting/lounging around:
And then we would get up every once in a while and shuffle down to the beach...
Weird Al even crashed our beach fun. I'm not kidding.
But then every once in a while we'd actually pry ourselves off our butts and get active, going hiking, "golfing", playing bocce or just running around:
But we definitely didn't have any fun. Nope. Not at all.
The end.
