Sister-Wives Brunch

My girlfriends Carol, Holly and Sarah are dubbed my sister wives after a night over cocktails one evening when Carol loudly announced she thought the whole concept of Sister Wives was cool if we'd help her raise her kids and take care of her husband, and all that stuff, but no getting to sleep with her hubby.  It was an hysterical conversation and the title has stayed every since.  These gals are so precious to me, I used to work with them at Scripps and we've traveled several times together, and we have a Palm Springs trip coming up in the near future.

They came over with their husbands for Brunch on Sunday and it was great hanging out in the backyard.  Here's Carol with her daughter Charlotte and Holly.
 Snuggling with G....

Love me some Carol, Galileo and that lounger!

The crew.....I love how Pat (on the left) is showcasing his bloody mary - very Vanna of you, Pat.
 Charlotte and Sarah buddies!!!

Every girl needs a bike:

I got a bike for my birthday and after numerous test drives and decisions, we finally picked it up this weekend and took it to Lake Miramar for a test-drive.  Poor Rob has had a  bike for months and has been patiently waiting until I got mine - and we were ready to roll!!!

 Numbskulls!
Isn't she pretty?  She's all white, a hybrid road bike with carbon fork and blah blah blah other stuff I have no clue about, but she's lots of fun.
Woohooo!!!  It was such a gorgeous day - sunny and beautiful out, just like summer.  We did 2 laps around, so 10 miles.  Hopefully we'll be able to build up to more eventually, but it was a great workout (especially considering we'd slaved away in our backyard for like 5 hours that morning, whew!)

Birthday girl!

So, my birthday was last week and as you know, I love to stretch the celebrating out as long as possible :)  I had a great actual day, took the day off work, got a mani/pedi and went shopping, then Rob took me to a sushi dinner.  That weekend, I went to dinner at Zel's in Del Mar with some friends and then out Putt Putt golfing.  Yup, that's how a girl rolls at 36.

 Me and Karen
Loving those Moscow Mules - they were delicious!  I blame them for my horrible putt putt game.  Yah, that's the excuse I'm going with.
The food was so delicious: truffle flatbread pizzas, crispy prosciutto mac and cheese, etc...slurp!

Rob's burger was amazing, clearly we both wanted in on that.
 The gents...
The group, Alex, Kev, Karen, Jason, Robbio and the bday girl.

 The cake...

And then we were off to the miniature golf course!  Wait, would you call it a course?  Club?  Place?  Situation?  Clearly those Moscow Mules created a posing situation, but it didn't translate into actual golf skillz.
Until I got my one and only hole in one!

Here's Karen and I posing in victory after her hole in one, but I love that we have no idea where the camera is...hahahaha!

 Wait, are you up?
Check out those hot surfing chics in the background!

Lovely birthday, all in all - good friends, good, cocktails and times - the perfect mix!

And then there were 3...

Our last day Noellie and Chris headed home :( and Robbio had to work, so I took Heather and Dave to play at the beach - we had a great time just chilling and sunning our buns. Like a cat brings you dead things, Dave sure liked bringing us crap he pulled from the ocean:

Heather and I show how family is apparently supposed to help each other pee while camping. Who knew? See? My blog is both entertaining AND educational!
LOVE YOU Dave and Heather - I miss you guys already!!!!!

More Fam Damily

Day 2 of food/booze/chat/laughter family fest, we started out the day by watching Heather win the Family Pot (for those not in our family, prepare to be insanely jealous...and buy me dinner sometime and I'll tell you the story), then took everybody to the Hotel Del Coronado after dropping Meggers off at the Airport ...and then there were 6. :(

We enjoyed some munchies on the beach patio...

...then hit the beach for a stroll.I love this pic of Chris and Heather, they look like carefree models! Dave perfected the art of the Awkward Family Photo Bomb:

After that we enjoyed all the touristy chotskies that Coronado has to offer while Rob shopped for some killer shades and Heather tried out some sweet shells.
Clearly I ran out of photographic "juice" towards the end of the night as this is where the pics ended, though we kept going for...you guessed it...more food!

Plankety plank plank

Let's take a moment to enjoy Dave's planking prowess. It just absolutely slays me and I fully admit I highly encourage it, in fact, one could even say I enable and instigate Dave's planking behavior. I dig it and it makes me laugh so we were thick as thieves with me photographing Dave planking in all sorts of weird places.

It started in Balboa park, here's Dave at the Spreckles Organ. This one cracked me up because it was so covert, even the guy's dog is unaware!I had to catch another one when Dave started getting little fans...I think he should recruit them as minions. At the Hotel Del Coronado (which, mind you, is a super fancy hotel), I love how Dave played it cool on one of their couches. Dooo deee dooo, nothing to see here. Then, boom! Plank.More at the Del...And at the beach...This is one of my favorites, try to find Dave in this pic: But the funniest memory by far of that weekend will forever be when we tried our hand at planking, in the parking structure of the Hyatt, on a catering cart. Why, you ask? Because it was there. And I'll just tell you right now, it is a damn miracle that (1) the dang thing didn't cave in and (2) that I didn't pee from laughing so hard....I swear I was absolutely hysterical howling with laughter...so damn funny! Meg and Dave first, then us 4 girls:

My Mom sent me this link - we've got nothing on some of these crazy lunatics...these are some serious plankers!
