Big ol' slab

Our house foundation has been poured!!! We're in business! They estimate we're going to be done by early October at this point, we're freaking out. We got an artists' rendering of the outside of our house and we're so excited...the only difference being our main color is really dark red/maroon.
We also got our dimensions. Mostly exciting stuff but DANG that spare bedroom on the 1st floor is tiny. Suck it in when you come to visit us, guests!

Last weekend was "all things house" - thus my slower than normal blog response time. (you can pretty much tell how busy I am by my b.r.t, a standard unit of measure at this point). We met with the design center for the 1st time to review all of our options - it's was awesome and overwhelming all at once. 3.5 hours later, we hadn't even gone through all the tile options and hadn't even BEGUN to review flooring, and yet we were zombies. We have to go back next weekend to start making some final decisions, it's lunacy. Some disappointing surprises - who knew insulation between the floors and rooms and freakin' rain gutters aren't standard? Boo! But we're excited about a lot of other stuff like the kitchen and custom bathrooms we're going to do, it's all going to be so freakin' pretty by the time we're done!

But back to our slab, it's amazing to see it come together. It seemed really tiny when we actually walked around it, but it was fun to see the layout. We were totally going to sign our names in the wet cement in the garage but then the sales office must have sniffed us out and specifically asked us not to, dang it. We were good kids and didn't, but we were super tempted. :( But as a bonus, we got some new safety accouterments, safety vests! We look like such dorks now when we're driving over to our spot. Ok, BIGGER dorks than normal.
