And with unceremonious and murderous brutality, landscaping begins...

R.I.P Walter the weed. You served our backyard well. Thank you for providing looky-loo's and gawkers plenty to marvel at, landscapers and contractors many minutes of debate whether you were a weed or something more purposeful, and most of all, for providing some lovely scenery and light-blockage to our lovely mud pit of a backyard. I am sad to think we'll never again hear "holy crap, no way that thing is a weed, it's huge!" and I'll never again see your strong branches waving in the wind. You were a loyal plant and naysayers be damned, you were more than a weed to us!

Moment of silence please. Pour some Miracle Grow out for our homie.

Here's some burial photos of Walter if anyone is interested. Consider them the horticulture version of old 1920's dead gangster photos that were heartlessly splashed on the front page news, they're just as brutal.
On a related note, landscaping has begun! The weeders came out en force this week and with a team of what appeared to be 3 permanently-stooped over dudes, the entire backyard was weed (and Walter, sniff) free in under an hour. Wowza. I took some sneaky clandestine photos from inside, I didn't want to be known as "that lady" who photographs her weeders in some creepy fashion (although in retrospect, it was probably WAY creepier that I was sneaking photos).

The other thing that happened landscaping-wise is they've dug a trench up the west side (isn't there a gang sign for that?) of the house for the gas line to the built in BBQ. Apparently they need to dig that first and then wait for the bureaucratic nightmare of getting gas line permits. weeee!
Some progress, very excited! Here's some lovely micro pics Rob took of our front flowers in the meantime to enjoy.

Your post, and Rob's and fountainhead's comments are way funny. And glad I wasn't the only one who thought Walter was more noble than a weed (although scrawny looking).

Caroline, auxkwasy for Beth and Rob to pay somebody for the digging, rather than do the labor themselves.

xoxo Mom
