Happy Birthday to my Fonz

As we all know (and some of us may judge), I've named my car "The Fonz" because he's so damn cool and kinda tiny in his tight jeans (no wait, scratch that). It's my car's 2 year birthday this month and I just wanted to give a shout out for all the fun he's brought to our lives. Thanks, Fonz, you're the best!

The Fonz likes the beach...

A trip up to the mountains last year to see what he was made of...

Rob sure loves the Fonz as well...when he's allowed to drive (heh heh)

But really, I think it's really Galileo and the Fonz who were meant to be together. He loves riding in it with the top down, his hair blowing all over the place. Screw trucks, dogs really love convertibles! Check out the look of pure bliss...

POW #4

This Picture O' The Week is in honor of my good friend Lara who lives in Olympia, WA. She's taking the Dreaded Bar Exam this week and I'm sending her all the good ju-ju I can muster. Everyone send your good vibes her way! This picture was from a few years ago when we visited her in Seattle. It's always a good time to catch up with her - we've known each other since 8th grade (ask us about our sock fight some day, it's pretty stellar). She and I are always nutbags together (shocker) and took this photo with some fun hats while honoring our Almighty Starbucks....which incidentally, is worshipped in the Northwest. Go get 'em Lara, kick some lawyer butt!!!!!!

Pageant of the Masters

Every summer there's a wonderful tradition in Laguna Beach called the Festival of the Arts - a day long art show and festival with tons of amazing local artists. We love going and ending the night at the Pageant of the Masters - a "living art show" (for those of you not local and saying "huh?", check this out): It's simply amazing and describing it does not do it justice.
First some beach time and picnic lunch:

At the art festival, I even was able to do tap into my inner 5 year old art self and do some art myself! It was tile etching and it turned out pretty cool if I do say so myself...I'm thinking Christmas gifts ha!, just kidding, nobody's getting any gifts this year... :)

Then some sushi before the show - slurp!

The sunset:

There are no cameras allowed in the actual show at the end of the night, so you'll just have to use your imagination. Imagine any intricate sculpture or painting with actual people holding still for 2 minutes - it's breathtaking! They always end with the Last Supper - it's pretty cool. How they make these images look "flat" or one-dimensional is mind-boggling!

As always, here's more pics:

Sandy Eggo

Every year in San Diego there is an "international" (which I think just means: "near the border") sandcastle competition that's pretty phenomenal. There's contests of individual, 3 and 10 people teams and they make some pretty amazing sculptures that put our old puny sandcastles to shame. It's especially amazing when you consider these are created in just 4 hours! Rob and I headed down there yesterday and braved the heat and crowds to enjoy. Here's a few highlights of my favorites:

This one reads: open your imagination. It's hard to see, but there's a huge zipper opening the people's minds and on the other side were peace flowers, it was cool!

At the very end of walking the length of the beach we were wicked hot and just so happened across an old ice cream truck - bonus!

Here are some more pics to enjoy:

POW #3

This week's Picture O' The Week comes to you from Alaska - shout out to my brother, sister in law and niece! We were in Alaska for our 5 year anniversary, so that means it was Fall, 2004. We had such a blast together on a cruise (and extended our trip before up to Denali and afterwards in Vancouver, eh?). We did tons of stuff: went horseback riding (with a view of Mt. McKinley, breathtaking!), kayaking (ask us about our once-in-a-lifetime whale encounter sometime, it was seriously amazing!), butt-clenching helicopter ride up a glacier, hiking, and of course tons of pigging out and gambling (shocker!) on board the boat. But most importantly, we came across the coolest street sculpture in Vancouver of a Killer Whale dressed up as Elvis - freakin' awesome. Since my Orca left me, dun dun, I found a new place to dwell, dun dun...

Happy 4th!!

Happy 4th of July everybody! I hope you all had a great long weekend. We had a blast - we went to three different BBQ's/parties and ate a ton of junk food, laughed our butts off and just generally enjoyed ourselves and our friends. It was definitely one of those weekends where we were reminded about how rich our lives are surrounded by fantastic people. Good times all around!
Here's some of us girls at Andy and Binney's BBQ on the 4th:

The pool was the only way to go when it got so freakin' hot:

Playing crazy marathon croquet:

I hit the croquet ball wicked hard one time to make up for an errant shot and it actually broke in half! It's not like I'm crazy strong or anything, I think the set was kinda old. Sorry Rollins!

And the rest of the photos:

A Couple More Fair Pics

So, our friend Sean just scanned this gem of a photo for us. Our 4 friends did an homage to my freaky Igor-like photo from Magic Mountain (see the MM post in May) on the Crazy Mouse ride at the fair last week. Brilliant, guys, simply brilliant!

And then, it's totally our tradition that Rob and I do those silly little photo booth pics every year - we have quite a collection going at this point. This year's photos are pretty typical, but I particularly like Rob's solo act...he pretends he's turning into Superman (in case you didn't quite understand the progression...it's quite advanced. ha!)
