Our friends Karen and Alex threw a Tacky Luau party last night and it was hysterical! They definitely know how to throw parties, we are never disappointed. They usually throw a Tacky Holiday party but since Karen is due in mid-December, they decided that probably would not be the best fit - so tacky luau is was!
You know Rob and I never do anything halfway.....and he had the brilliant idea to go as Magnum P.I. and I would go as one of his 80's Hawaiian Peaches. I twisted my hair up all day to achieve big 80's hair, I haven't used that much hair spray in a long time, and it totally paid off.
Rob grew out his goatee for almost 2 months - he wins for dedication towards a costume design, for sure. At the last minute, he shaved off the goatee part and left his mustache and then dyed the thing black - it was hysterical! We decided he looks like a mix of Ron Jeremy, Magnum and Super Mario Brothers.
The funniest is that Rob walked the dog like that prior to the party...I of course went along for photo documentation...and hysterical laughter, I swear I almost tinkled watching people's faces.
Rob had found the Magnum PI theme song and played it on his phone all night, adding to the brilliance. Here's a little sampling for your enjoyment.
I love how everyone represented...here's the gang in all our tackiness - there's a whole lot of pattern happening here.
The tacky hosts with the mosts:

And, as if I weren't tall enough, those platform shoes I got make me like 7 feet tall! I look like a drag queen....or Dee Snider.

Karen and Alex got one of those fantastic photo cutouts, you know how we love those things!!!

More pics from the night.

The funniest thing - the electricity was out for half the party, and it didn't even matter! We still had such a blast, and when the electricity came back on, we actually turned off all the lights and just used the candle light again - way better. The other highlight was when the cops showed up! We all were laughing that we felt like teenagers again when they told us to quiet down and go back inside, but the quote of the night comes from Karen when she heard they were outside "we've still got it!" hahahahahaha!!!
