I am so thrilled to report I finally have had a few days of improved symptoms!!!!! Emotionally, that has made such a difference, not to mention of course some relief on the physical front has helped me so much with my functioning. It all started after my last chair ride on Thursday the 16th when we talked about the possibility of taking a break. After that chair ride I felt so very awful for days, was dizzy beyond belief, couldn't do anything but just sit on the couch and spin. I was supposed to go back to the doc on the 20th but I still felt so ill, I listened to my body and called to reschedule a few days later, for the 23rd. Well, it was interesting, but the few days made a difference, by Thursday I started to feel that horrible level of dizziness starting to lift a bit, so I brought tidbit that to the discussion.
It felt really good to be able to listen to my gut and advocate for myself and collaborate with the expert; I was so impressed with my doctor at that appointment - he was so open to trying something new since at this point it's so clear that aggressive chair treatments are worsening things, not improving them, so we discussed different options and I ended up choosing some home treatments for 2 weeks. Essentially I do those Semont manuvers (flipping myself back and forth end over end) then immediately lay on my belly with my head hanging over the end of the couch upside down for 30 minutes with a massager on the back of my head...seriously, you can't make this stuff up, ha! It feels awful, but at least I don't have to get in a car afterwards, and surprisingly, it seems to have made a difference! I'm still dizzy but it's a lower grade dizziness, and I haven't felt that in MONTHS - I could just cry with gratitude to have a clearer brain...it's amazing!!!
As a result, we had such a great weekend and I actually could enjoy it! My good friend and coworker Karen came to visit me last week and it was so sweet, she brought me flowers and took me to brunch at the beach - it was such a lovely diversion.
Then, on Saturday, we had a bunch of friends over for different cheese and sausage tasting, it was delicious and so much fun. I just so enjoyed myself - we sat out in front of the fireplace outside and just laughed and laughed.
Sausagefest!
And then finally, on Sunday, we had our friends Sara and Eric over for dinner. Sara is preggers, about 30 weeks, and since I missed her baby shower, it was fun to get together and give her our gift. This pic cracks me up, not really sure why I'm trying to cup her belly like a weirdo:
The parents to be!
So, that's my news for now! Will keep you updated, but please keep your fingers crossed and pray this is the final lap - let's hope this is finally the fix!!!!!!
