Last weekend we went up to LA to see the Book of Mormon Broadway show with several friends and we had soooo much fun!
I have to admit, I was really nervous, just having come off a really bad-dizzy week. I had no idea how I'd do with traveling, energy level, etc, etc, but I figured this was a good trial run before our NYC and Aussie trips.
I loaded up on all my meds, and I'm so happy to say, I tolerated everything pretty well! We took the train up which was WAY better than stupid stop and go LA traffic (plus, I just love that ocean view). I wasn't able to read or anything, unfortunately, too dizzy with the movement, but it was great to just listen to my ipod, hold hands with my Robbio and stare at the ocean. I even saw some dolphins! Beats sitting on the couch any day, for sure.
The show was at the LA Pantages theater - it's beautiful in there with all the art deco style!
The show was absolutely hysterical. Super naughty, but surprisingly heartwarming at the end. Here's us in front of the theater.
We stayed at the same hotel where we stayed after the Cold Play concert - view of the Hollywood sign! (does not appear in this photo....you gotta read the fine print, folks)
Dinner that night was at Animal - everyone was super stoked to try it out. As the name implies, it's all fleshy flesh fleshness - stuff like veal brains, bone marrow, pig tails, etc. I had some hamachi and brussel sprouts and was totally content, it was delicious - all the adventurous meat eaters in the hizzy (read: everybody but this weenie) were in heaven.
Our little camera has the world's deadliest flash, it makes everybody's eyes close!
After dinner we went to a great bar called the Roger Room - awesome old school drinks and waiters in Mad Men-esque attire (I thought our dude looked like Jon Hamm...kinda). I hate having to be on all these meds, even more so can't drink, so I ordered a Moscow Mule - my fave - just to at least have a few sips before somebody else finished it for me, delish!
Nice photo bomb, Rob
Not really sure what's happening here but I'm sure cocktails are to blame.
What a fun night...and such a nice chill way to get home. Love that train and that view!
