But, my friend/coworker who is a Doctor of Osteopathy recommended I see a colleague of hers who is also a D.O. and has had good success treating vertigo with cranial manipulation. I figure at this point it couldn't hurt, and it might actually fit well with all the other homeopathic stuff I'm doing - juicing, rubbing the Frankincense oil behind my ears, burying a half-eaten carrot behind my house during a full moon - No! I kid.
So, turns out, cranial manipulation is really cool. I never knew that the skull bones are moveable (by millimeters) and when they're out of whack, can cause all sorts of problems. Here's an article more about it if you're interested:

I went in for an assessment with the doctor and sure enough, my temporal bones (which house the inner ear canals) were both twisted and out of sync, so he did some very gentle manipulation (it felt like an awesome head massage) with the hope that we're "righting" the canals back to where they should be, making them a more hospitable environment for my inner ear crystals to go back to their home (remember Billy Madison? ). Sounds like it can work in conjunction with the work my Neurologist does, so that's good, I go back to see him next week.
I'm so hopeful this will work - ironically, this has been a really tough week. I had a major setback on Tuesday with horrible vertigo and have felt like crap since, so seeing a new doctor yesterday afternoon was perfect timing to get a new "set of eyeballs" checking out my symptoms. He was very sympathetic and was saying my temporal bones were so significantly out of joint that he's not surprised I was susceptible to the viral infection (possible theory). He also suggested that this could have been as a result of my 2 head injuries I sustained in college (if you don't know THAT Tub Thumping story, I'll tell you sometime, it's entertaining).
Fascinating stuff.
Onward and upward. Have some fun social stuff and am hoping to join Rob on a business trip next week so I'm just praying these symptoms get more under control - fingers crossed!
